RE: NEXT BOOK:
I've seen a few comments asking about my next book, so I'll take a moment to try to explain. The new series, called The Embraced, will be published by St. Martin's Press. The Love at Stake series was published by HarperCollins. It's fairly common for authors who are traditionally published to change houses, cause we always want to be with the house that will be the most enthusiastic and supportive of our work. But all publishing houses schedule their upcoming books far in advance, like a year or two. So whenever an author changes to a new house, her first book ends up toward the end of that schedule. That is why there is this long lag time before the new series begins. The first book will release next March. I know that seems really far off, but the good news is that after that first release, there will be a new book about every six months. The first book is already finished and came in at 510 manuscript pages, so it's nice and meaty. Plenty of romance, humor, suspense, action, adventure, spooky stuff and lots of laughs, too. I really can't wait to share it with you!
A little more info about the new series, The Embraced. It was pitched as Game of Thrones meets The Princess Bride, so you could call it a paranormal fantasy. It has a 'different world' setting like Game of Thrones, meaning a medieval type world, full of action and suspense, with castles, sword fights, dragons, shifters, pirates, elves, and then, there are The Embraced.
They are the ones born on the night the two moons embrace (or eclipse) and each one has some sort of supernatural power. They are outcasts from society since the kings want them dead (because of their special powers). So even though there won't be any vampires, you will still have a group of outcasts with paranormal powers. (To be honest, I was a bit tired of my vamps all having the same powers. I wanted a group where everyone's power could be different. Some variety! It's been great fun making up different, odd powers. And it was wonderful to be able to write scenes for them in the daylight, LOL.)
The Princess Bride part is where the fun, romance, and lots of humor comes in. And there's a touch of Assassin's Creed, since the hero in the first book can parkour across castles. If you haven't seen parkouring, look it up on YouTube. It is awesome!
You can also look forward to some strong, feisty heroines, cause the five of them are all Embraced. They have powers of their own, and they're out to change the world!!
The first book of The Embraced series will be called:
HOW TO TAME A BEAST IN SEVEN DAYS.
Release date: March 7, 2017
No, the hero doesn't look like a beast. He's very handsome, of course, but he has an awesome superpower that scares the hell out of everyone --well, not everyone. LOL Prepare to be tamed, Beast!!
